The Yocum Institute for Arts Education music program, in a unique music studio setting offers both Music Classes as well as Private Instruction. Private Instruction is offered in piano, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and voice. The music wing encompasses five private studios that are scheduled with lessons throughout the day. In addition to instruction the Institute provides performance opportunities to students of the music department. The Yocum Gallery serves as a recital hall and is equipped with two Grande Steinway pianos. Students can experience both solo and two-piano performances. The Music classes run on our Semester schedule, while our Private Instruction run on our Session Schedule.
Composition and Jazz Improvisation: In addition to our private instrument instruction, the Yocum Institute for Arts Education is also offering private instruction in Composition and Jazz Improvisation. Instructed by faculty member Chris Heslop, private instruction in Composition will focus on techniques in creating original musical works. Private instruction in Jazz Improvisation is for students interested in learning America’s unique art form of Jazz. Jazz theory, harmony and style are approached in a logical manner.
Students must have a basic knowledge of music for this instruction.
