General Policies

It is the policy of the Institute of the Arts not to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, age, marital status, gender sexual orientation or physical handicap in its admission of students, educational activities and employment.

 Fees:  Registration fee of $20 per school year is to be paid once per school year, per student, July 1-June 30. Registration fees are non refundable. The Institute charges 1.5% monthly on overdue accounts and $30 for returned checks.

Payments for Classes:  All course tuitions must be paid in full two weeks prior to class starting. Class places are guaranteed after receipt of signed registration form and full tuition payment. Fall, Winter and Spring classes that are NOT ongoing are 10 weeks long unless otherwise noted.. Drop in rates for classes are $25 for Visual Art, Dance and Theater. Tuition for any student who joins a class that has already begun for that session will be the full class tuition or no less than 80% of the class’s tuition. No classes will be “prorated” by class.

 Scholarships:  Financial assistance is available for eligible students. Those interested can obtain an application form online, at the Institute or by calling 610-376-1576.

 Withdrawal:  Notice of withdrawal must be received in writing and is effective the date the written notice is received, not from the last day of attendance. There are no refunds after course begins and registration fees are not refundable.

Refunds

: When a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the full tuition payment and registration fee will be refunded. A full refund, less the $20 registration fee will be issued if the student withdraws at least one week prior to the first day of class. If withdrawal occurs after this point but before classes begin, there is a $15 withdrawal fee. No refunds are issued once classes begin. The Institute reserves the right to add or delete courses, change times, fees or instructors at its discretion. The Institute also reserves the right to cancel classes. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment 24 hours before the first class, this class may be cancelled. Students will be notified and given the opportunity to enroll in another class or receive a full refund, which will be issued within 60 days of cancellation.

: Withdrawal from private lessons must be received in writing and is effective from the date the written withdrawal is received, not the date of the last lesson attended.

: As a courtesy to your instructor, please notify the Institute of any absence. The Institute allows three (3) cancellations per fiscal year with reasonable notification. Any additional absences will be charged to the student as lessons. If the instructor or school cancels a lesson or a private lesson is missed due to a holiday, the lesson will either be credited or rescheduled.
The Institute reserves the right to add or delete courses, change times, fees or instructors at its discretion.
The Institute also reserves the right to cancel classes. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment 24 hours before the first class, this class may be cancelled. Students will be notified and given the opportunity to enroll in another class or receive a full refund, which will be issued within 60 days of cancellation.

Preschool & Kindergarten

Registration

: A nonrefundable registration fee of $100 is required along with a complete Preschool Registration form in order to secure a space in a Preschool or Kindergarten class. Eighty (80) percent of this registration fee is applied to the tuition payment. A completed Health Assessment Form is due prior to the child starting school.

Tuition:

First semester tuition is due Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Second semester tuition is due Wednesday, January 12, 2011.

Withdrawal/Refund:

Official written notification of withdrawal from a Preschool, Kindergarten, Toddler or Discovery class must be given to the Preschool Director. Otherwise, the student will continue to be responsible for payment. Preschool/Kindergarten: if withdrawal is requested by September 19, 2008, 70% of semester payment will be refunded. No tuition will be refunded or credited if student withdraws during the school year. There are no refunds or credits for day missed to illness.

Holiday Schedule

: Please refer to the CALENDAR for list of holidays.

Weather Policy : If the Preschool/Kindergarten closes due to inclement weather for more then three days, the additional days will be rescheduled. The Toddler and Discover classes will close if the Preschool/Kindergarten closes. However, days missed in Discovery classes due to inclement weather can be made up as long as there are available make-up days and prearranged to be made up within 4 weeks of the missed day.

Private Instruction Policies

Payments

: Tuition is payable on the first week of each session. Tuition is prorated according to the number of weeks of instruction in each session.

Summer Camp & Workshop Policies

Registration:
To register you must pay a $50 deposit for each camp.

Withdrawal / Transfers
*100% of deposit is applied towards cost of camp. There are no refunds for deposit.

Full cost of camp is due for withdrawals that occur less than 72 hours before start date of camp.  

If for unforeseen circumstances the student can not attend the camp for which they are registered, you have the option to transfer the registered student to an approved camp, pending availability.  List of approved transfers on reverse.

The Institute reserves the right to add or delete courses, change times, fees or instructors at its discretion.
The Institute also reserves the right to cancel classes. If a camp does not meet minimum enrollment 24 hours before the first class, this class may be cancelled. Students will be notified and given the opportunity to enroll in another camp or receive a full refund including any deposit, which will be issued within 60 days of cancellation.
